Wonderful vintage shots of post-war New York

American Todd Webb has become one of the most famous post-war photographers in the United States. He was born in 1905. One of the most important milestones to which he led his life was a service in the US Navy. He completed it in 1945. Before joining the war, Todd worked as a stockbroker and very successfully, but, having lost almost all his fortune during the crisis in the 1920s, he got down to work as a forester.

In the 30s, working at the Chrysler concern in his native Detroit, Webb became a member of the Chrysler Camera Club. His love of photography was “awakened” by classes in the workshop with Ansel Adams. Therefore, leaving military service immediately after the end of World War II, Todd Webb went in search of a new life in New York, taking with him a camera. He captured the main metropolis of the planet at the time of his post-war awakening, at that wonderful time when New York began to spread its wings again.
